Overnight Oats

It is well known that the humble oat has numerous health benefits:-

  1. They are a fantastic source of fibre.
  2. They release their energy slowly therefore keeping you fuller for longer, and helping you to control your blood sugar levels.

  4. They are a rich source of essential vitamins and minerals

Not only are oats nutritious and cheap, they can be made into a variety of delicious breakfasts and snacks therefore making them the perfect way to fuel your day. 

Overnight oats are ideal for those lacking time or motivation in the mornings to make a filling and nutritious breakfast that also taste great, as they are prepared the night before, ready to be eaten the following morning. The basic formula for overnight oats is 1:1 for the oats and your chosen liquid.  You can use Milk, Dairy Free alternatives or yoghurt, and then top with a mixture of seeds, nuts, fruits or compotes, the choice is yours.   Although there are endless combinations you can try, we’ve chosen a classic recipe to share you with you...

Blueberry, Banana & Yoghurt Morning Oats


You will need: Glass jar or a deep food container with a lid to prepare your oats

  • ½ Cup Whole Rolled Oats
  • ½ natural plain yoghurt  (you can use soya or almond milk as an alternative)
  • X1 small banana
  • Handful of fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbs Chia Seeds (optional)
  • Handful of chopped nuts (variety of your choice)
  • Honey to taste (optional)


  1. Add the oats to your container and pour over the yoghurt or your dairy free alternative. Stir well to ensure the oats absorb as much of the liquid as possible.
  2. Mix the seeds and nuts together and then alternate layers of blueberries, banana and the nut mix on top of the oat mixture.
  3. Refrigerate overnight for at least 8 hours.
  4. Once ready to eat drizzle with honey for a tad of extra sweetness.
  5. Enjoy!
