Make your own advent calendar | Blackfriars

Who’s excited for Christmas? The countdown is almost on! Why not make a home-made advent calendar that would make your Christmas countdown even more fun? We’ve put this easy DIY tutorial together, so that you can create a personalised advent calendar ready to open.

You’ll need:

  • 24 empty cardboard boxes (small, all the same size)
  • A piece of cardboard (A3)
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Multipurpose Gloves
  • Markers or crayons
  • A Box of your favourite flapjacks

Step One:

Gather your supplies above and draw numbers on the piece of cardboard for each day on your calendar. Leave some space between each number so it is easier to cut them out.

Once you have drawn all your numbers, cut them out. Cut them out in squares, leaving yourself enough room to glue them onto the empty boxes.

If you don't want to draw the numbers on, print out some numbers from your computer.

Step Two:

Glue your numbers to the lids of the empty boxes. Cut off any excess paper.

Step Three:
Fill the empty boxes with small gifts. Buy or make enough small gifts for each day on the calendar. Our delicious range of Flapjacks and Muffins make the perfect advent calendar gift.

Step Four:

Stack up the numbered advent boxes like a pyramid or Christmas Tree on top of a dresser or fireplace or side shelf with ‘number 1’ at the top, so you can make your way down the Christmas tree pyramid as the days go by.

That’s it! All you have to do now is enjoy the festive countdown.

We would love you to send and share with us a picture or two of your home-made Blackfriars advent calendar. Don’t forget to shop our product range for the perfect advent calendar gifts – we think our Flapjacks are the perfect fit.
