Here are is a fact that you might not have known about coffee to consider as you enjoy your coffee and flapjack this morning.  More than 50% of U.S. adults drink at least one cup of coffee a day – but they are not the world’s largest coffee consumers. That honor belongs to Finland, followed by West Germany. Finland drinks about 5 cups of coffee per adult per day.

Most of the tea that is consumed in the world is of the oxidised black tea variety; this makes up about 80% of all tea consumed. Oolong tea is consumed much less at about 2%. Green teas account for the remainder of tea consumption ~20%. There is also a geographical split with regards to the type of tea that is consumed.

Espresso is made by forcing hot water through ground coffee under high pressure. This limits the amount of time that the water is in contact with the coffee beans, thus extracting the flavor but leaving a lot of the caffeine behind.

The tax on tea even started a war between England and America . America was then part of the British Empire and ruled by England . The Americans did not like the tax they had to pay on tea coming from England and in 1773 threw 340 chests of tea overboard in Boston – the famous Boston Tea Party. This was one of the causes of the American War of Independence.
