Toffee flapjacks were introduced at Blackfriars over 15 years ago. Whilst everybody has their favourite flavour, we probably get more letters and e-mails about our toffee flapjacks than any other.

Suitcases of flapjacks
Heading off on holiday to the sun this week and of course, couldn’t help myself packing a few flapjack bars along with all my holiday essentials. In fact in the end I got carried away and ended up a few pounds over my allowance. From past experience I know that they don’t sell Blackfriars flapjacks in France and how can I have a relaxing holiday without treating myself to my favorite Blackfiars Flapjacks whist watching the rain out of my tent window?

Full of energy
What’s the best way to get that ‘full up’ feeling? In almost every study I have read, the best way is described as through eating oat based products. Now that can be porridge, but it can equally be the (some would say) rather more delicious tasting flapjack.
It’s because oats are full of the slow release energy so unlike, say, a chocolate bar, eating a flapjack will release energy over a long period of time. This means that you don’t suffer from energy ‘spikes’ of feeling hyper followed by feeling sleepy.
So if you want to feel full up, avoid feeling sleepy and have lots of energy over a long period of time then you could do worse that eating a flapjack.
Flapjack selections
Flapjacks might not be the most common thing you find coming through your letterbox at home.
For me the most common thing is bills, followed by letters for things I don’t want to buy followed by things I do want to buy but can’t addord. Fridge of Flapjacks
Chocolate flapjacks can go a little ‘sticky’ in this warm weather so I pop mine in the fridge to keep them nice and cool.
Don’t know how long this nice sunny weather is going to last but the forecast is for a hot dry summer. I’ve been around far too long to believe that one – my prediction is for a wet cold July so I’ll stock up on Chocolate Flapjacks as my comfort food. But in the meantime – whist the sunny weather lasts – I can still enjoy mine nice and cool straight from the fridge.
