About Blackfriars Bakery

Blackfriars Bakery has been specialising in the production of vegetarian snacks since the early 1980s, and made a policy decision in 1988, to concentrate on health bars resulting in the launch of our now famous, oat based flapjack. By the early 1990s, Blackfriars had introduced an unprecedented twenty plus new flavours, increasing product popularity so that we became one of the first companies to establish U.K. wide sales of flapjacks.

Blackfriars led the way, through research and innovation, in extending the shelf life of our flapjacks, firstly to three, and then to six months. We recognised that, for small retail and snack bar outlets lacking refridgerated display space, a product with a good shelf life at ambient temperature, would prove critical.

Since the mid-1990s, Blackfriars has been applying and extending its unique technology to an expanding range of cakes and snacks, through to our latest Monster Muffins with a Mega Shelf Life!
